Revival: The Story Behind the Song
“Revival” takes me back to my earlier influences such as Biohazard and other New York Hardcore (NYHC) bands that delivered powerful riffs and in-your-face lyrics – all delivered with that trademark aggression. The song explores being constantly put down by a narcissist until you are just a shell of your former self. That is until you realise what is happening and make moves to escape.

This happened to me years ago. I think I am over it and it is water under the bridge, but then when I see someone who looks like that person, my blood pressure rises, and I get super angry and anxious. So, I know I am nowhere near being over it, and it still affects me to this day. I am also angry I allowed someone to do that to me over an extended period of time.
When it was time to pen lyrics for the hardcore riffs, I did as I usually do: I hit record, stepped up to the mic, and started yelling. The first verse is pretty much exactly what I yelled off the cuff, just freestyled into the mic. Then I wrote the rest of the song around it.

Hardcore Punk has always resonated with me, and I find myself coming back to it on the regular. I am also stoked that Australia has such an amazing bunch of Hardcore bands coming through the ranks.
