Behind the Song: “All We Are” ft. (Hed) P.E.

I’m stoked to share the story behind my latest single, “All We Are,” featuring  (Hed) P.E. This track is a personal journey for me, and I wanted to give you all a glimpse into how it came together.

The background of “All We Are”

The original idea of “All We Are” stemmed from my love of (Hed) P.E. I originally conceived the song with their style in mind. The structure of the song i.e mellow intro into punk chorus into Metalcore riffs was also inspired by Falling in Reverse “Watch the World Burn”. That track always gives me chills.
After completing the song, I reached out to Jahred Gomes, the lead vocalist of (Hed) P.E., to see if he might be interested. To my surprise, he was so impressed with the song that he proposed turning it into a (Hed) P.E. track. However, I opted to keep it as my own, and just have (Hed) P.E. as a featured artists as I loved the song too much to give it away.

The Song’s Dynamic Journey

One of the standout features of “All We Are” is its dynamic journey. I had always wanted the intro mellow that then buikds energy throughout the track, however, during the mixing process, engineer Jono Peters from Blackvial said to me “That end riff is just too good to save to the end, would you consider also putting it as the intro to grab peoples attention – Just like Bartender by (Hed) P.E.”
I am always down to experiment with ideas & I do love bartender so “Let’s do it”

Lyrics & Vocal style

(Hed) P.E. was always on high rotation in my younger days, and still is to be honest. They always had a knack for blending genres and it always sounded incredible.

Jahred’s influence on my vocal style is noticeable throughout “All We Are,” so working with Jahred is a bucket list experience for me. The original song was going to be called “Pain of the Sorrow”, which was what I ad-libbed for the end riff, so I wrote the song around that idea. In the intro, I was rapping faster and had a more aggressive style of vocal delivery. The song was pretty much written but when I reached out to Jahred I sent him the instrumental version. I always like to give the featured artist free rein if they want on a track so they can take it to wherever they feel at the time. So when I got Jahred’s vocals back, and it had that swagger and flow talking about not being ready to die and living life, I just threw my lyrics in the bin and started from scratch, writing my vocals around Jahreds theme and vocal delivery.

This is the reason I love to do features. It always pushes me as an artist and sends the song in a different direction than I may have taken it. It is exciting and refreshing and keeps the creation process super interesting.

Living Life to the Fullest

“All We Are” embodies a sense of swag and groove, coupled with lyrics that encourage living life to the fullest in every moment. The song presents a complex exploration of life, encompassing defiance, pleasure-seeking, challenges, individuality, impermanence, and the quest for leaving a lasting legacy. This is what Chat GPT spat out.
